This connection features a wide-flange beam supported by a hollow structural section column capped with a one-half inch thick cap plate. The beam web is attached to the column via a shear tab with three bolts. A one-half inch by seven inch by five inch plate is welded to the beam flange with three-sixteenths inch fillet welds on three sides. The cap plate is welded to the HSS column with a one-quarter inch fillet weld. An edge angle is positioned on the cap plate, with instructions to move the angle up onto the plate as needed for proper placement.
