An HSS8x8 girt frames into a round HSS structural steel column using a half-inch connection plate welded to the column face and a three-eighths-inch stiffener plate below. The girt connects to the plate via an L3x2x3/8 by six-inch long leg horizontal angle secured with two five-eighths-inch diameter A325 bolts. Three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds secure the top and bottom angles to the girt as indicated typical. A two-inch minimum clearance is maintained between the girt and the column face.
