A built-up channel stringer connects downward from the stair framing into a structural hollow structural section located per the stair plan. Typical 2-1/2 by 2-1/2 by 3/8-inch angles support the stair treads. The built-up channel transitions from the floor level to form the downward stair stringer assembly.
