A steel beam is connected to an open web steel girder using a five-sixteenths inch by four inch required bent plate. The bent plate is attached to the girder with one-quarter inch fillet welds on three sides. The beam is bolted to the bent plate, with the connection maintaining a one inch minimum clearance from the girder. Additional one-quarter inch fillet welds are applied on the plate as specified.
