An interior light-gauge metal stud wall connects perpendicularly beneath a structural steel beam with a three-quarter-inch gap. A slotted slip track sits atop the wall studs and is fastened with number ten screws on each side. A inverted slotted track or flat plate attached to the underside of the steel beam receives powder-driven fasteners such as Hilti X-U or Simpson PDPA spaced at sixteen inches on center. These fasteners maintain a minimum point penetration of one-half inch into the steel beam flanges. An isometric axonometric view above provides the alignment and framing configuration of the deflection track relative to the stud framing.
