A five-eighths-inch thick Grade 50 shear plate connects steel beams to a structural steel column flange using twenty three-quarter-inch diameter A325N bolts in a bolted configuration. The bolts are pretensioned according to the specified minimum bolt pretension per Table 8.1 of the specification for structural joints using high-strength bolts. Faying surfaces satisfy the requirements for slip-critical connections with a Class A slip coefficient or higher.
