A steel column connects to a one-half-inch by seventeen-inch cap plate using eight one-and-one-quarter-inch diameter A325N bolts arranged in pairs along the flanges. A five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld attaches the plate while maintaining no weld at the K zones.
