A steel buckling-restrained brace connects to a steel gusset plate designed by the brace manufacturer, which frames into a structural steel column and steel beam assembly. A concrete slab on metal deck passes through the connection zone, supported by three-eighths by three-inch minimum deck bearing plates. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to the beam web and flanges on each side where required, alongside a beam web connection plate. The steel column receives the gusset plate and beam framing members to complete the lateral force-resisting frame intersection.
