An alternative 18-gauge minimum metal closure piece is detailed for a steel beam deck bearing condition where the standard one-and-a-half-inch clearance cannot be provided. Shear studs are located at the deck troughs and welded directly through the metal deck. The assembly maintains a two-inch minimum bearing requirement on the supporting steel flange.
