A wood sill plate with a depth D is detailed for pipe or conduit penetrations and notches. One-half-inch diameter holes are drilled at each corner prior to notching. Notches are restricted to a maximum depth of D/3, with additional anchor bolts installed on each side when the conduit size exceeds D/3. A Simpson ST2215 connector strap or approved alternate is specified as noted on the framing plans, positioned six to nine inches from the anchor bolts.
