Steel floor beams frame into a structural steel column flange using a single plate shear tab welded to the column and bolted to the beam web. The shear tab thickness is sized at the beam web thickness plus one quarter inch, with a typical three inch minimum vertical spacing and two inch edge distance. Continuity plates are provided at the top and bottom flange locations, sized to the larger of the connecting flange thicknesses TF1 or TF2. The connection incorporates a second row of bolts as required and welded continuity plates top and bottom.
