A continuous wide-flange beam bears on a three-quarter-inch steel plate atop an HSS column, connected by four three-quarter-inch-diameter A325N bolts typically unless otherwise noted. The cap plate width matches the beam flange or is sized per plan with typical one-and-a-half-inch edge distances and gages. One-half-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on three sides. Minimum welds per AISC specification secure the assembly.
