An elevator pit guide rail support HSS post connects below a wide flange beam supporting a metal roof deck. A diagonal brace frames into the assembly, installed per sheet 22/S6.1 centered on the guiderail. An L6x4x3/8 angle is welded to each side of the HSS post with a one-quarter inch fillet weld, specified as near side and far side typical. A three-quarter inch diameter A307 machine bolt with a vertical slotted hole in angles centers on the hollow structural section, maintaining a one inch clearance at the top. The assembly provides structural support and alignment for elevator equipment within the pit.
