A W16 structural steel beam frames into a W8 column with moment bracing provided by double angles. Two 3x2 angles connect back-to-back as kickers to a 3/8-inch gusset plate welded to the column and beam flange. A 3/8-inch top and bottom stiffener plate is welded to the column web and flanges. Connections utilize two 3/4-inch diameter high-strength bolts typically at each end of the angles, secured with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides.
