The steel beam splice connection features a center line alignment with matching structural steel members joined end-to-end. A three-eighths-inch web plate connects the beam webs using erection bolts spaced at two-and-a-half inches and one-and-a-half inches. Top and bottom flanges are joined with a complete joint penetration weld, back gauged, and reinforced with a typical fillet weld. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch size are specified on three sides typically at the web plate connection.
