A beam-over-HSS column connection utilizes a wide flange frame beam sized per plan and a connecting wide flange beam. The assembly incorporates a three-eighths-inch thick ASTM A572 Grade 50 web plate welded to the bottom flange of the connecting beam with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld. A six-inch wide by three-eighths-inch thick ASTM A572 Grade 50 flange plate connects at the bottom with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld to the web plate. A full height stiffener plate is provided with a weld and number of bolts at the wide flange per schedule, maintaining a one-and-a-half-inch minimum typical spacing and three-inch typical bolt spacing. The total number of bolts varies by beam depth class, ranging from five to seven bolts.
