Three structural plans detail metal deck supports at interior wide-flange or box columns using L3x3x1/4 or L3x3x12 gauge angles welded with typical three-sixteenth-inch or one-eighth-inch fillet welds. Composite steel decks with concrete allow contractors to delete the angles if properly shored during concrete placement. Additional angles are provided where beams do not frame directly to columns, alongside sixteen-gauge sheet metal closures to fill column cavities where beams occur on four sides.
