A wide-flange beam connects to a hollow structural section column web using a welded shear tab plate and multiple rows of bolts. The shear tab sizing, edge distances, and bolt spacings comply with AISC specifications and the project schedule. A full-height shear tab is omitted for W12 beams and smaller per engineering notes. Fillet welds are specified typically at five-sixteenths inches, and dimensional clearances maintain the required k-distance per the AISC manual.
