Two segments of a wide flange or channel structural steel beam meet at a change in angle, forming a kinked joint. The top flange, web, and bottom flange are joined continuously with full-penetration or fillet welds across the intersection. This splice geometry accommodates structural profile changes in sloped or folded framing members.
