A davit socket pedestal is mounted atop a structural steel beam, with the beam web connected to a stiffener plate via a one-quarter-inch fillet weld. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web and column, complemented by L6x6x3/8 angle braces typically used on unnotched sides. A one-half-inch by four-inch plate sized to the beam width plus one inch is attached to the beam flanges with one-quarter-inch fillet welds. Three-eighth-inch welds are applied on all sides at the socket pedestal assembly. The supporting beam connects to the main column as specified in the structural framing plan.
