A wood beam frames into a W-shape steel beam using two distinct connection types across a half-inch gap. The right side features a wood beam slotted over a one-quarter-inch stiffener plate welded to the steel beam web, fastened with three-quarter-inch diameter machine bolts scaled in quantity by beam depth from four to eight bolts. The left side features a non-double-sided wood beam connected via a CCQ cap, which is coped and welded to the steel beam web and flange with a three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld.
