This plan detail shows an expansion joint in a concrete masonry unit wall assembly spaced at a maximum of sixty feet. A three-eighths-inch expansion joint is centered between the masonry wythes. Three-quarter-inch diameter by two-foot six-inch smooth galvanized dowels span across the joint at each bond beam with plastic end caps and grease applied to allow movement. Two number eight reinforcing bars run continuously through each bond beam.
