A steel beam is reinforced with half-inch plate stiffeners on each side of the beam web, welded with five-sixteenth-inch fillets on three sides. Gusset plates connect to the bottom flange of the beam and are bolted to angle braces. A six-inch diameter hole is provided in the beam web for a sprinkler line where required. Bracing angles are placed on each side of the beam, and a fourteen-inch space accommodates an HSS tube at angle braces.
