A W12 structural steel column connects with a three-eighths inch full depth stiffener plate positioned one foot six inches above the top of the slab. Shop-drilled holes of five-eighths inch diameter accommodate connections, supplemented by typical three-sixteenths inch welds on three sides. One-half inch diameter barrier cables attach to the column flange at typical intervals. Section A-A provides alignment dimensions relative to the grid lines.
