An open-web steel joist bears atop a steel joist girder, secured with a top-chord tie rod or plate and a four-bolt connection. A three-quarter-inch plate welded with a quarter-inch fillet weld joins the assembly. A joist nailer sits above the top chord. Fillet welds of quarter-inch size are specified at nine inches minimum for the full length at each girder.
