An HSS beam connects to an HSS post using a three-eighths-inch thick bent plate welded to the post with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds on two sides. A three-eighths-inch stiffener plate is centered between two three-fourths-inch diameter end welded studs on the bottom of the HSS beam. A one-quarter-inch thick cap plate matches the HSS beam dimensions and is connected with partial penetration welds typical. The connection aligns the centerline of the post and bent plate with the HSS beam.
