A concrete foundation wall and footing supports an exterior slab on grade adjacent to a loading dock pit. The pit edge is protected by a continuous galvanized channel (C8x11.5) anchored with half-inch diameter by six-inch heavy stud anchors at top and bottom spaced at sixteen inches on center. A continuous galvanized angle (L4x4x1/4) reinforces the top corner of the pit curb. Number four dowels measuring three feet six inches long tie the concrete slab on grade to the pit wall at eighteen inches on center, supplemented by number four bars spanning the opening width.
