A new one-half-inch steel plate connects to an existing beam sized per plan located beneath an existing concrete floor deck. The plate is attached with a three-eighths-inch fillet weld on three sides. Additional connections to the existing beam utilize one-quarter-inch fillet welds. Dimensions indicate a two-inch vertical spacing and a three-inch minimum clearance.
