A thickened concrete slab-on-grade footing supports the base of a stair stringer. Two continuous number five reinforcing bars run longitudinally through the one-foot-deep thickened concrete footing, supplemented by number five reinforcing bars spaced at twelve inches on center. The thickened footing extends twelve inches beyond each stair stringer, and stringer attachment to the slab is provided by the stair supplier. Standard concrete slab-on-grade reinforcing continues through the surrounding floor assembly.
