A structural steel column and buckling-restrained brace connect to a base plate anchored into a reinforced concrete shear wall and slab pocket. A one-inch layer of non-shrink grout fills the space beneath the base plate, while the concrete pocket reaches a maximum depth of ten inches with a two-inch minimum clearance. Slab top reinforcement includes additional number eight bars measuring twenty feet long each way, totaling twelve bars centered on the base plate with standard hooks at the pocket per the structural drawings. The brace connects per the manufacturer requirements with bolted connections and welded attachments.
