A wide-flange beam supports a concrete slab over metal deck, with the slab thickness and deck gauge determined by project notes. A steel stud wall runs vertically adjacent to the slab edge, secured by a clip referenced in detail 13/S520. A continuous C6x8.2 channel is positioned at the base of the stud wall, welded to the supporting wide-flange beam with a 3/16-inch fillet weld at 2-inch length spaced at 12 inches on center. Where the beam flange width is less than 6-1/2 inches, a 1/2-inch by 8-inch continuous plate is added to the top flange, welded with a 3/16-inch fillet weld at 2-inch length spaced at 12 inches on each side.
