A hollow structural section column bears on a bearing plate supported by a concrete spread footing or plinth. Two three-quarter-inch diameter pins connect through the hollow structural section, which features a two-and-three-quarter-inch maximum hole. A slab on grade surrounds the assembly with an optional slab blockout and a one-half-inch gap filled with sealant per architectural specifications. Reinforcing includes number five bars on each side and optional blockouts for column placement aligned to construction joints.
