A one-inch diameter ASTM A572 Grade 50 U-rod passes through a half-inch square steel plate welded to a hollow structural section post. The HSS4x0.250 post penetrates a concrete over metal deck and connects to a wide-flange beam below. Full-depth stiffener plates are welded to each side of the supporting beam web. Quarter-inch fillet welds secure the components throughout the assembly.
