A slip track connection for cold-formed steel framing utilizes a 16-gauge Dietrich "SLP-TRK" slip track system at the head of a stud wall. A typical stud and track assembly is detailed with a 1-inch vertical clearance, maintaining a 1/4-inch minimum to 3/4-inch maximum deflection gap. Number 10 by 9/16-inch long wafer head self-tapping screws are fastened to each side of each stud. The bottom track is connected to the slip track with two number 10 sheet metal screws spaced at 16 inches on center unless otherwise noted on details.
