A structural steel beam connects to a column per plan using a seven-eighths-inch thick plate welded to the column flange with three-eighths-inch fillet welds. The beam web attaches to the plate with twelve three-quarter-inch diameter A325-N bolts arranged in three rows and four columns, spaced three inches horizontally and two inches vertically on typical centers. An HSS8x8x1/2 piece reinforces the back of the column with quarter-inch fillet welds.
