An L5x5x3/8 structural steel angle brace connects to framing members at a thirty-degree angle using gusset and connection plates. A three-eighths-inch thick gusset plate and a ten-by-three-eighths-by-six-inch connection plate tie the brace into the structural members with quarter-inch fillet welds. A three-sixteenths-inch weld is specified for three sides with an eleven-inch minimum total length. Steel roof deck bears on top of the upper framing member.
