Concrete slab construction joint incorporating three-quarter-inch diameter smooth steel dowels measuring one foot six inches long spaced at twelve inches on center with smooth cut ends. Dowels are installed at slab centerline perpendicular to the joint and level, with one end wrapped or coated to prevent bonding to concrete. A bond breaker is applied to the joint prior to the second pour, and reinforcement is terminated at the joint without a radiused edge. Elastomeric joint sealer is specified at truck ramp slabs.
