A W10 girt frames into a wide flange steel column using a one-half-inch thick plate matching the column depth. The connection plate is welded to the column flange with a five-sixteenths-inch fillet weld and measures two inches from the outside edge of the plate to the column flange. The girt connects to the plate with two one-inch diameter A490N bolts spaced at three inches on center. A maximum clearance of three-quarters of an inch and one-half inch is maintained at the connection interface.
