A diagonal structural brace connects to a column baseplate supported by a concrete foundation wall. A half-inch thick ASTM A572 Grade 50 gusset plate is welded to the column with a 5/16-inch fillet weld and extends down to the baseplate. The brace member attaches to the gusset plate using two 3/4-inch diameter ASTM A325 bolts. The working point is located at the intersection of the column and brace centerlines.
