A structural steel bottom flange brace connection is detailed with an L4x4x1/2 angle brace fastened with two 1" diameter A325-N bolts at each end to a 3/8" gusset plate. The column cap plate matches the beam width or column width plus 1/2" with a thickness equal to the beam flange at 3/4" minimum. Three-eighths inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the column web with 3/16" fillet welds and 2" returns. The connection includes shear plates with 3/4" diameter A307 bolts at standard gauge.
