Flange plates connect to a structural steel column at the weak axis with stiffener plates welded to the column flanges. Five-eighths-inch thick stiffener plates feature a one-half-inch typical radius and connect with optional complete joint penetration welds or fillet welds. A continuous plate connects between the column flanges per detail requirements. A gusset plate ties into the assembly with specified minimum dimensions.
