A structural steel brace connects to a supporting beam using a three-quarter-inch thick gusset plate inserted into a slotted steel brace member. The slotted end of the steel brace receives a slot dimensioned to the gusset thickness plus one-eighth inch wide. Fillet welds of quarter-inch and seven-sixteenth-inch sizes secure the connection assemblies based on typical spacing callouts. A one-inch radius cutout is provided at the base of the gusset plate transition. Working points establish the intersection alignment for the brace centerlines.
