Two wide flange beams frame into a central joist girder via Grade 50 plates measuring 1/2 inch by 8 inches by 5 inches placed on each side. A complete joint penetration weld connects the assembly with 5/16-inch fillet welds typically applied along the plates. Additional field welds with 5/16-inch size at 6-inch spacing secure the connection to the structural members.
