This assembly consists of a steel column welded to a 1.5-inch thick ASTM A572-50 base plate. The base plate is secured by four 1.5-inch diameter anchor rods, which pass through 2.375-inch diameter holes in the plate. The column is attached to the base plate with 5/16-inch fillet welds on both sides of the flanges and webs. The assembly sits on a 1.5-inch layer of non-shrink grout over the foundation. The anchor rod layout is defined by a 20-inch by 16-inch grid pattern.
