About this detail

A structural steel buckling-restrained brace connection is anchored to a W18 beam and W18 column at a common work point. Gusset plates are provided per the buckling-restrained brace supplier, with the length matched to the brace gusset length. Top and bottom plates have a thickness matching the thickest beam flange plus one-quarter inch and are welded with complete joint penetration welds. W18 braces connect into the gusset assembly with a one-inch minimum clearance typical. Shear connections are provided per plan reactions and typical details unless noted otherwise.
