The assembly consists of a built-up steel shear lug fabricated from Grade 50 plate, welded to the underside of a steel base plate with a demand-critical complete joint penetration weld. The lug features an 8-inch wide flange and a 6-inch deep web, with 1-inch thick components joined by 3/8-inch fillet welds on both sides of the web, typical to the flange. The lug is embedded 1 foot into the concrete foundation, with a 2-inch clearance provided on all sides for flowable non-shrink grout. The column and base plate are sized per the project schedule.
