A circular web penetration is centered on the beam web at a specified distance from the support and point loads. The maximum opening diameter is limited to one-sixth of the beam depth unless otherwise noted on the plan or schedule. Clear distances from the center of the penetration to the support and top or bottom flanges are governed by beam depth parameters and standard spacing rules. The opening is detailed with centerlines establishing dimensional constraints relative to the support and flange edges.
