A rectangular concrete column measures sixteen inches by eighteen inches in cross section. Longitudinal reinforcing bars are distributed around the perimeter and enclosed by an outer closed tie. Internal seismic crossties feature one hundred thirty-five degree hooks with an extension of six bar diameters or three inches minimum.
