Concrete over metal floor deck bears on a steel beam with a minimum four-inch bearing. Three-eighths-inch by three-inch stiffener plates are welded to both sides at four feet on center and six inches from the ends. A three-eighths-inch by six-inch wide top plate or equivalent wide-flange beam is provided. Continuous number four reinforcing bars run longitudinally with number four bars at twelve inches on center. Fillet welds of varying sizes secure the steel connection elements.
