The subgrade assembly rests on a compacted subgrade topped by a minimum six-inch layer of clean, well-graded crushed rock or gravel with a maximum particle size of one and one-half inches and less than five percent passing the number two hundred sieve. An underslab drainage pipe is embedded within the crushed rock layer per the geotechnical report and plumbing drawings. A radon-resistant vapor barrier is installed directly above the granular base. The concrete slab-on-grade is placed over the vapor barrier as indicated on the structural plans.
